Chimes sound at the start of Sunday Liturgy at Marywood. “The chimes call us to what we are really present for: to pray together,” says Liturgical Life Director Janet Brown, OP

Since fall 1985, the Dominican Sisters have invited others to join them for Sunday worship. “Our chapels are holy places. Although we cherish our contemplative space, we are grateful for the opportunity to praise God with our Sunday Assembly,” says Sister Janet. “We are not only a gift to them — they are a gift to us. All come as we are, with our sorrows and our joys, and we are given the support and strength we need to live out the rest of the week.”

To serve and model inclusivity in liturgical life is a responsibility that Sister Janet has poured her heart and soul into since becoming the director of Liturgical Life at Marywood in (year?)

“Our community of Dominican Sisters believes that we must walk with one another, with all people, in order to see the God that we contemplate in our hearts,” says Sister Janet, identifying with the parallels with stories of Jesus’ accompaniment of people and His challenges to the society of His day.

Sunday Assembly allows the Congregation to blend worship, prayer, and contemplative moments with the Dominican values of community and hospitality.
