I am eternally grateful to God for the gift of my vocation. I give loving thanks to my parents, my family, Dominican Sisters, and close friends for their love and encouragement during my Dominican journey.
My sister Helen’s little farm was a hilly piece of land. Her house sat in the middle of a large hill and sweeping valley. Her backyard gave a panoramic view of the landscape. The valley was lush green and at the bottom, crops were planted: golden wheat, light oats, and yellow corn. Beyond the field was our woods filled with numerous maple trees. The view of the valley, crops, and woods was breathtaking. It spoke of God. It became my private place to be still, meditate, and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.
During my high school years at St. Mary’s, Lake Leelanau, I felt the call to serve God more deeply and live a holy life. Following this desire, I entered the Marywood Community on September 8, 1950. Given many opportunities for study, I received a BA from Aquinas College in 1963; Certificate in Theology from Aquinas Theological Institute in 1968, and an MA from Michigan State University in 1973.
Catholic education became my love and life. Over the years I taught grades 1-8. Every level had its own joys and rewards and I enjoyed every grade. My favorite, however, was teaching Religion and History to junior high students.
I now reside at Aquinata Hall and do volunteer work on the “A Team” in the mailroom at Marywood. I am an avid Notre Dame fan. I enjoy watching spectator sports, reading, music, and playing cards. Sr. David Therese also lives at Aquinata, and we are blessed to make our final journey to our heavenly home together.
