University of Detroit Mercy Associate Professor of Nursing Linda Thiel, OP received a 2017 Global Center Faculty Fellowship from Loyola University Chicago and the institution’s John Felice Rome Center (JFRC) on June 29, 2017.
She received a four-week fellowship to pursue individual research in Italy and interact with other professors and research colleagues, as well as served as a guest lecturer. Sr. Linda returned from this experience earlier this summer.
The article notes that “The fellowship provides opportunities for current faculty to broaden their research and scholarship activities in Italy; foster a deeper connection with JFRC; interact with professors and research colleagues; and contribute to the student learning experience on-site.”

Sr. Linda is the Associate Professor, McAuley School of Nursing, teaches nursing at the Grand Rapids campus. She earned a BSN and MSN from Purdue University-Calumet and a PhD from Catholic University. Her area of expertise is evidence-based research and nursing practice.
