“Leaven is essential to all good cakes. It makes them rise and provides the space for the batter to breathe and remain moist.” — Sr. Marie Celeste Miller, OP
Inspired, this retired Aquinas College Art History professor, envisioned her next ministry as an opportunity to combine her passion for baking and artistic expression.
Today, she is a baker and purveyor of cakes, cookies, bars, and other sweet treats through The Peace of Cake, Confections by Marie Celeste.
Cherie Inn Restaurant serves desserts made by Sr. Marie Celeste. Homemade sweet breads, cookies, biscotti, granola bars, and holiday desserts are also available at the front desk of Dominican Center at Marywood.
“Something so small can be so transformative, especially when shared,” says Sr. Marie Celeste about her sweet treats. She takes orders and packages homemade goods for celebrations, holiday parties and family gatherings. The Thanksgiving baking has begun: Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting, Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars, Ginger Snaps, and specialty cakes.
Ideas are stirring for Christmas, assures Sr. Marie Celeste.
