Sister Marie Rachael Guevara, OP, (Class of 1966) was inducted into Aquinas College Hall of Fame on September 19, 2025, during the Aquinas College Homecoming celebration.

A fitting honor for someone who has spent a lifetime embodying the Dominican spirit of service and learning, especially during her vowed life as a Dominican Sister ~ Grand Rapids.

Who better deserves recognition in the Aquinas College Hall of Fame for exemplifying the spirit of Aquinas than she who, after nearly five decades of teaching, retired only to continue teaching by volunteering as a tutor at Holy Redeemer Elementary School and Detroit Cristo Rey High School?

Sr. Marie Rachael’s love for teaching has been evident from her early days with 52 lively first graders at St. Alfred’s in Taylor, Michigan to teenagers and young adults at the All Saints Literacy Center in Southwest Detroit – a center she helped open with the Dominican Sisters of Adrian and where she continues to serve.

With competence, humor, and tireless energy, Sr. Marie Rachael exemplifies everything Aquinas College honors and strives to cultivate in the students – a passion for learning, a commitment to justice and a joyful spirit of service.

Thank you Sr. Marie Rachael. Your Dominican Sisters are proud of you, inspired by you, and delighted to see your extraordinary dedication so fittingly honored!
