Transitions
Marywood is a dynamic environment that has grown and adapted to changing needs and times. In 2019, we sold a portion of the campus to a developer committed to rehabilitating and rebuilding our former Motherhouse at 2025 Fulton Street East into senior affordable housing, a much needed resource in our area.
With an increasing number of older members, our Congregation recognized these buildings no longer met our needs. But, oh the joy that comes with the knowledge our move will provide much needed housing for low-income seniors in West Michigan.
We feel blessed to bear witness to the next chapter for this place of mission and grateful to be able to share our Marywood campus so that others may have an affordable and beautiful place to call home. Property sold by the congregation included the main building and east and west wings, and the small buildings leased by Whistle Stop.

Sacred Outdoor Spaces
Have you ever made a Holy Day of Observation?
Poet and Preacher Annie Willits, OP, encouraged each of us to add this practice to our litany of spiritual and liturgical observances. On a Holy Day of Observation we just might see or experience something of the love with which God — in the guise of Earth — wraps us in each day.
Here at Marywood, beautiful places like the Prairie Habitat and grotto in our front yard are welcoming sacred spaces for prayer and reflection. The grotto links to the beautiful paths found in the St. Francis Sculpture Garden for Prayer and Meditation.
The Prairie Habit is a sustainable native area we have been nurturing since 2011. In spring 2023, we expanded the Prairie. We also began a developing a new Master Landscape Plan.
