Chris Wood, OP challenged Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) nursing students to “Get lost at Marywood” during orientation for their clinical rotation.

Sr. Chris might be one of our favorite types of teachers: adventurous and diligent. What better way to teach a group of nursing students to find their way around Marywood than to challenge them to “get lost on a scavenger hunt?”

The eight nursing students from Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) started a clinical rotation on the Marywood Campus on Tuesday, Mar. 1. The Clinical, taught by Sr. Chris, an Assistant Professor of Nursing at GRCC is titled The Older Adult and goes from this week through April 19.

“As I planned the course, I thought, what better place to engage with older adults than at Aquinata Hall, Marywood Health Center, and Marywood House.” Under the supervision of Sr. Chris, students will work with the professional health care staff and the Sister and lay guests who live or are receiving care in these three locations. In the photos below, at left, Sr. Chris provides students with logistical details about the campus; at right, Sr. Chris and students met Sr. Juliana Barilla. The chance to converse with somebody who is more than a century young was a first for every one of these students.
