It is known by many names: humus/Adam – soil – ground – earth.And it is referenced often in the Bible.

( Gen. 9:20) Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard.

(Ex: 34:26) You shall bring the very first of the first fruits of your soil into the house of the Lord your God.

(Lev: 27-30) Every tenth of the land’s produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.

(Zechariah 8:12) For there will be a sowing of peace; the vine will give its fruit, and the soil will give its produce, and the heavens will give their dew.

(Mark 4:26) The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil.

(Luke 8:15) But the seeds on the good soil are the people who hear the word but also hold on to it with good and honest hearts, producing a crop through endurance.

(Mark 4:20) But other seeds fell on good soil and produced a crop, some 100, some 60, and some 30 times what was sown.
