“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” ~ Matthew 6:21

In 2000, I enrolled my son Andy in school at Lake Michigan Academy on the campus of Aquinas College. I could not have imagined where this move would take us in life. Living in Greenville and driving him to Grand Rapids each day I needed to find a job near his school. My prayer was answered when I responded to an ad in the Grand Rapids Press for an Activity Director at Aquinata Hall, Marywood. Thank you to Sisters Judy Vahovick, Linda Thiel, Elizabeth Amman, and Donna Jean Thelen for giving me the privilege to become employed by the Dominican Sisters, a wonderful eight years it was!

I have been blessed with this trio of Sisters, my dear friends, Sr. Mary Jo Beckett embraced the Activity department; Sr. Diane Dehn, for making sense of my transcripts to make the transfer from Ferris to Aquinas; Sr. Rosemary O’Donnell, one of my favorite college instructors and Dominican Associate mentor in 2002. Most recently, my gratitude for the deepening of my faith to Sr. Ann Walters, for her gift of Spiritual Direction. Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the many more Sisters not mentioned, but no less loved and appreciated for your kindness and prayers to myself and my family for the past 23 years! My heart is blessed and this community is one of my most cherished treasures.

Let’s show the Sisters who have taught us, mentored us, and stood by us — lots of love during Catholic Sisters Week!
