Greeters Associate Terri Sierzant and Megan McElroy OP unlocked the front door and opened the Chapel doors.

And the people came. Forty people arrived Saturday morning, February 12 for Morning Prayer led by Associate Life Director Lisa Mitchell and Associate Bob Sadowski. Our community of Associates, Leadership, and many former Sister mentors gathered in community for a message of love.

“This sacred space has a special place in all our hearts and even though transitions are difficult, God’s Spirit is moving through all of us as we move forward in mission. We will be following Saturday Morning Prayer in Dominican Praise pp. 468-475. (please turn to p. 468 in Dominican Praise as we begin our prayer.),” said Lisa as she opened her own book.

We were blessed by the gifts of Cassandra Kroondyk (Violin), Larry Barton (guitar and vocalist), Roberta Lewis-Barton (piano), and David Lincoln (cantor).

Associate Bob Sadowski preached love in his homily: Moving Forward in Mission. His preaching was based on the day’s reading John 21:15-17.

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. As she closed, Lisa said, “I’d like to thank our preacher for his reflection; also a special thank you to our musicians for making this time of prayer so meaningful and uplifting, and to Sr Janet Brown for work behind the scenes, Sr. Ann on sound and TV controls, and Terri Sierzant and Sr. Megan for being our greeters this morning.”

We are grateful to Sr. Ann Mason who helped with sound and inclusion of Sisters at Aquinata Hall and Sr. Joyce Ann Hertzig, who assisted with Zoom for Associates who couldn’t be with us in person.

On Sunday Feb. 13, the Sisters will celebrated Eucharist and Mass with a commissioning and procession with the Traverse City cross from Dominican Chapel/Marywood to Chapel of the Word in the new Marywood. Finally, on Sunday, February 20, the Sunday Assembly will gather for Eucharist one last time in the space that has been nourishment for them (this is only for Sunday Assembly participants).” ~ Megan McElroy OP
