We are created with the capacity to seek and to find God. Spirituality is the totality of our responses to this perceived call of God. Spirituality is integrated into the whole complexity of human life.
Our Spiritual Formation Courses at Dominican Center Marywood invite participants into a transformative journey of listening for and responding to God’s call with their whole lives.
Whether you are discerning your next step, seeking to deepen your spiritual life, or feeling called to accompany others, our courses offer space for prayer, reflection, learning, and growth. Foundations in Spirituality (Foundations I), Foundations II: Wisdom from the Margins, and the Spiritual Director Practicums each provide a unique path for deepening your relationship with God.
If you’ve been wondering what these courses are really like, we invite you to hear directly from those who have experienced them. Read the reflections below from our graduates as they share how these courses have shaped their faith, their understanding, and their spiritual journeys.
Foundations in Spirituality (Foundations I)
“Foundations in Spirituality was transformative for me. It expanded my understanding of who God was, is, and will be through exploring the spiritual practices and experiences of the mystics. I grew up with one narrow understanding of God. It was an image that was unsettling and distant from the Spirit that lives in me and I often felt like my spirituality was incorrect or even irreverent. The Foundations course gave me the much needed “permission” to experience God’s presence that uniquely dwells in my spirit, how the spirit communicates with me, and how I partner with God in bringing Love into this broken world.”
~ Ruth N., Foundations in Spirituality Graduate

Foundations II: Wisdom from the Margins
“My understanding of God, myself, and others has changed because of what I picked up from each person we studied – how they related or communicated or interacted with God… I really needed to have to think about what God is calling me to in relation to people on the margins. This course has changed my heart in that area and fueled my drive to reinvest in what God has and is calling me to – including how I handle my schedule and prioritze rest.”

Spiritual Director Practicum
“I am grateful for this formation process and the people who facilitated it at Dominican Center which has completely changed how I see myself, God, and all humanity. It’s a challenge to think of the person I was before the first Foundations class. My transformation is so stunning to me that I am not always sure which contributed more: the scholastic learning or the Spirit-led experience and gifts of the Spirit. My prior life experiences brought me to this threshold. The Spirit invited me to step through the door where all kinds of new life awaited me and continues to unfold before me.”
– Dell Todd, Spiritual Director Practicum Graduate
