On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in April, the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids welcomed the youth group from Holy Family Parish in Sparta, Michigan.
The Holy Family Sparta group helped remove invasive species in the St. Francis Sculpture Garden, led songs, and shared stories.

This time to get to know one another through songs and a card game where everyone came out a winner were among the activities enjoyed during this visit. While there was ample space for fun, the best part was witnessing the Holy Spirit move, dance, and swirl through the room as the teens and the Sisters connected and shared stories, calls, and joys in and through their vocations.
It was beautiful, really, the buzz in the room, the twinkle in the eyes as lives and stories were exchanged. It was a holy intersection of women who had opened their lives to the Holy Spirit and God, and the junior high and high school teens who had opened their day to service. The place where they met led to connections and understanding and, hopefully, left all those involved changed in some way.
“You do your part, I’ll do mine,” the Spirit playfully chided me afterward. Someday, I hope I won’t have to be reminded of this as much. Luckily, the God I’ve come to know specializes in presence, connection, and love. Three things that were all present on that afternoon in April.
