Right now, the Supreme Court is hearing a case that could reshape the future of birthright citizenship in the United States. At stake is a principle rooted in the 14th Amendment, that every child born on this soil is recognized as fully belonging. It is a promise of dignity, equality, and welcome.

Our directions in ministry call the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids to minister and preach with our lives. We support the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution that promises welcome and security for babies, children, and adults.
Peace and Security for All Life
We extol the dignity of every human life, made in God’s image, a truth revealed in Genesis. To live that truth we take a stand, by preaching and action, against all threats to human well-being. The joys and the hopes, the griefs and the anxieties” of all people – of those threatened by war abroad or gun violence at home, of prisoners, of the sick, of children in the womb, of mothers in crisis – these too are our “joys and hopes … griefs and anxieties.” (Cf. Gaudium et Spes, #1.)
Our call is to see the face of God in the whole of life, to embrace the tenets of nonviolence, and to practice loving our enemies.
Who we are, what we stand for, and how we live our lives in Christ remain steadfast as we reflect and respond to the needs of our country and world at this time.
The Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids support the work of CLINIC upholding dignity and protecting rights. It’s mission aligns with our mission: To Love; to uphold the dignity and equality for every person.
CLINIC is Standing with Partners to Defend Birthright Citizenship Right
At CLINIC, we were proud to submit an amicus brief in this case, standing alongside partners to defend this fundamental right. Because we know what is at risk — not just a legal standard, but the lives, futures, and sense of belonging for countless families
And this Holy Week, we are reminded of what it means to walk with those who are vulnerable. We remember our call to stand in solidarity with those who are suffering and to affirm, again and again, that every person is worthy of dignity and love.
This moment calls for that witness.
Your support today helps ensure that CLINIC can continue to:
- Defend access to justice for immigrants and their families.
- Speak boldly in the courts when fundamental rights are at risk.
- Equip a national network providing life-changing legal services.
Consider supporting CLINIC.
