Dominican Sisters International
The Congregation of the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids, USA, is aligned with Dominicans worldwide through Dominican Sisters International Confederation (DSIC).
From Michigan in the United States, our mission aligns with the international Order of Preacher presence and DSIC goals:
- to coordinate, assist and support member Congregations in living out the Dominican Charism and to affirm and promote their identity as women preachers;
- to facilitate communication and networking among members of the Dominican Family at national, continental and international levels;
- to foster a more compassionate world order through the promotion of justice and peace, the integrity of creation and human rights, especially the rights of women;
- and to create and promote collaborative initiatives among members of the Dominican Family.
United Nations Presence
Through DSIC, Dominicans have had an accredited non-governmental (NGO) presence at the United Nations in New York through the Dominican Leadership Conference (DLC) since 2002. Prioresses from these regions assemble every three years. The photo above is fro the DSIC Assembly 2025 in May, which concluded with a Mass led by Fr. Gerard Timoner III, OP, Master of the Order Ordo Praedicatorum. It was a week filled with reflection on grief, hope, and joy in the lives of Dominican Sisters today, discussions, planning and dreaming, but above all else – it was a sacred space of sisterhood and encounter. Do you see anybody you recognize in the photo?
During the assembly, Sr. Margaret Mayce was reelected as the DSI International Coordinator for the 2025–2028 term.
