Marywood Academy Alumns Reunite at Annual Reunion

In September, Marywood Academy alums gathered at Dominican Center for the annual reunion luncheon. Students who’d graduated between 1944 and 1975, and later gone on to be doctors, accountants, mothers, and teachers themselves, all enjoyed sharing fond memories of their school days.

Dominican educators planted seeds of faith and knowledge in the lives of many students of all ages and grades. To all our dear Marywood Academy students, no matter where you are, the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids offer up prayers and blessings in your name. We pray that you are inspired by faith, love, knowledge, justice, and truth in your life today.

Was there a Dominican Sister who inspired you? She may have been your kindergarten or sophomore biology teacher. Share your story of a Dominican Sister who inspired you or changed the way you see the world. Visit our website https://www.grdominicans.org/sister-story/ or email communications@grdominicans.org.

Marywood Academy Class of 1969 50th Reunion

The Marywood graduating class of 1969 had its 50th reunion on June 21 – 22, 2019. Beginning with a reception Friday evening, the festivities continued Saturday with a luncheon, a photo slideshow, a tour of today’s Marywood, and tea with Sisters in the Atrium at Aquinata Hall.

A highlight was the surprise appearance by former teacher Marie Haviland! Classmates travelled from as far as Marquette, Illinois, Georgia and even Arizona to reconnect and reminisce with one another and with our Dominican Sister teachers, like Sr. Jarrett DeWyse and Sr. Lucille Janowiak (aka Sr. Stanley).

Many thanks to Class of ‘69’s amazing reunion planning committee for pulling it all together!
