Friday, February 24, 2023, marks one year since the start of the unjust Russian invasion of Ukraine. The war rages on.
February 24 Prayer Vigil at Marywood to remember and honor those killed in Ukraine during this year of war.
The Dominican Sisters and Associates of Grand Rapids wish to remember the victims of the war. Those living and deceased. Those cold, hungry, and shocked by the devastation wrought on their country by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

- Friday, Feb. 24 | 4:15 pm — Stand vigil with us at Marywood as we ring the bell by the Pear Garden, honoring those who have died since this tragic war began. Please park in the former DCM parking lot or the Aquinata Hall parking lot. Dress warmly.
- Also on Friday, Feb. 24, is a candlelight prayer vigil downtown Grand Rapids on the Gillett Bridge.

- Sisters will also be praying the Stations of the Cross in St. Catherine of Siena Chapel each Friday during Lent.
- Good Friday Collection: Donations will go to the fund established by Associate Jarek Kozal to support refugee families in crisis living in Poland.
A Candlelight Vigil, sponsored by the Ukrainian Community of Grand Rapids, is also planned for Friday, February 24 at 6:00 pm on the Gillette Bridge that connects Ah-Nab-Awen Park with DeVos Place across the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids. This vigil is to honor the victims of the war in Ukraine. Participants are welcome and encouraged to bring supportive signs, photographs, flags, and candles.

who care for them.
Send your Spirit of welcome upon those
who are killed in this act of war.
May they know the embrace of your love.
Send your Spirit of consolation on those who have lost loved ones.
May they know comfort in your promise
that one day they will see them again.
Send your Spirit of protection on those who have lost their homes.
May they find shelter and security.
Send your Spirit of hospitality upon all nations.
May they welcome refugees into their midst.
Send your Spirit of hope upon your world.
May we live into your vision of a future of justice and peace.
