Pray for peace in Cameroon. Learn about Cameroon’s geography, history, and current political challenges, and discover how the Dominican Family promotes peace and solidarity through ministries in this country in Central Africa.
This December, as the Dominican Order of Preachers and associates around the world observe the Dominican Month of Peace, we turn our focus to Cameroon — a nation facing political unrest and humanitarian challenges like hunger and lack of education.
All are welcome to learn, pray, and stand in solidarity with our Dominican sisters and brothers in Cameroon.
Join us Wednesday, December 10, 2025 for “The Political Crisis in Cameroon” with guest presenter Dr. Roger Durham as he offers insight into the historical and social context behind the current crisis.

Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly underlined the importance of dialogue and prayer as paths to reconciliation and peace, the event will close with reflections on how the Dominican Family is present in Cameroon and ways we can support their ministries and efforts for peace.
“Let us ask from the Holy Spirit the gift of Peace. Peace begins in our hearts, for only a peaceful heart can spread peace in the family, society, and international relations. May the Spirit of the Risen Christ open paths of reconciliation wherever there is war. May He enlighten those who govern and give them the courage to take steps toward de-escalation and dialogue.” (Regina Caeli, June 8th).

What is the Dominican Month of Peace
Each year, from the first Sunday of Advent until the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, the Dominican Family of vowed religious and associates celebrate the Dominican Month for Peace: a time of prayer and commitment focused on a country in the world facing situations of conflict.
In recent years, the Dominican Month for Peace has focused on different realities: Haiti (2024), the Amazon (2023), Myanmar (2022), Venezuela (2021), Ukraine (2020), India (2019), the Democratic Republic of Congo (2018), and Colombia (2017).

“‘In the name of human dignity and international law, I repeat to those responsible what Pope Francis used to say: ‘War is always a defeat!’ And with Pius XII, ‘Nothing is lost with peace. Everything can be lost with war’” (General Audience, St. Peter’s Square, June 18, 2025).
