March 8 -14 — During Catholic Sisters Week we shine a spotlight on how Prayer, Study, and Advocacy inform our call as vowed women religious preaching Love.
The Dominican Sisters have a passion for truth and a deep desire to transform and be transformed through the people and experiences that God brings into our lives. We minister so that others can be transformed in faith and community.
Through ministry, community, study, and prayer we share Christ’s message — redemptive love that reflects God’s desire for a just world.
Pray: Prayer supports us as we live into God’s most powerful message: Love. Love which never measures, only forgives. Dwell with us, God of all, as we celebrate the wisdom of your Word, the power of your Presence, and the mystery of your Ways. Amen
Study: Who we are, what we stand for, and how we live our lives in Christ remain steadfast as we reflect and respond to the needs of our country and world at this time. Through study, our hope is to continue opening ourselves to the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Study is integral to our prayer – leading us to a deepening faith in God and trust in the Word.
Advocate: We willingly embrace the risk of preaching Gospel Justice. Our founder St. Dominic valued right relationship. This ideal helps ground our Congregation’s mission to be in right relationship—with community, with family and friends, and with our Creator.

Be who you were meant to be and you will change the world.
~ Catherine of Siena
Our Patron St. Catherine of Siena wrote: “Be who you were meant to be, and you will change the world.” Her message wasn’t just intended for vowed religious. She intended to encourage and empower every individual. As a lay person, her prayers, healing, peace-making, and political advocacy influenced Pope, Church, and country in the 14th Century. Her attention to those who were sick and suffering around her informed her values and calls for change.
The Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids pray the Gospel nurtures your spirit and life, day in and day out. May your presence inspire and help heal and transform family, friends, and your own community.
Like St. Catherine and like Catholic Sisters around the world, may you, too, be inspired to pray, study, and advocate wherever you are.
