About Catherine of Siena
Our Patron St. Catherine of Siena wrote: “Be who you were meant to be, and you will change the world.” Her message wasn’t just intended for vowed religious. She intended to encourage and empower every individual. As a lay person, her prayers, healing, peace-making, and political advocacy influenced Pope, Church, and country in the 14th Century. Her attention to those who were sick and suffering around her informed her values and calls for change. Like St. Catherine and like Catholic Sisters around the world, may you, too, be inspired to pray, study, and advocate wherever you are.
The Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids pray the Gospel nurtures your spirit and life, day in and day out. May your presence inspire and help heal and transform family, friends, and your own community.
Our chapel in Aquinata Hall is named after her: Catherine of Siena Chapel.
