Life Rhythms of Creativity and Rest
Saturday, September 6, 2025
9:30 am–12:30 pm EST
Cost: $55
At Dominican Center Marywood at Aquinas College
Messages bombard us to do more and faster every day. Pausing for creativity and rest, it seems, are luxuries. And yet, from the foundation of the world, God models both and offers them as gifts for the refreshing of our souls. This class is an invitation to explore the challenges and opportunities inherent in resting and how creativity can be a path toward imagining a different way to live and be. This session can help you develop these Sabbath practices if you desire. Through a contemplative mixed-media project incorporating watercolor, Zentangle* patterns, and words, we’ll create and bring home personalized reminders of God’s freely given gifts.
“Creativity is a quality of being that impacts our everyday experiences, our relationships, and our expressions of who we are.
Creativity flows throughout our thoughts, our words, our actions, and our interactions.
To be creative is to be human and to be fully human is to know God.” -Stephen Roach
A brief introduction to Zentangle and all supplies will be provided. All are welcome; previous art experience is not required.
*The Zentangle Method, created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns known as tangles. To learn more, visit www.zentangle.com.

Yoli Vega
Certified Zentangle Teacher
“Anything is possible, one stroke at a time” is a guiding mindset for Yoli as she explores God’s creativity in the world around her and her own life. As a lifelong learner and teacher, she is inspired by patterns in nature and those that can flow from a pen through her regular practice of Zentangle. Zentangle is a drawing method that extends the invitation to be present and slow down. Having experienced its many benefits, particularly during life’s most challenging moments, she now eagerly shares Zentangle with others. She hopes they will discover the artist within! Books, journals, art supplies, and all things coffee spark her joy. Yoli is a Certified Zentangle Teacher pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry at Western Theological Seminary. She lives in Holland, Michigan.
