5:30 – 7:00 pm
No cost, but registration is required.
Advent is a gift.
May we stay awake and notice the coming of Christ
into our lives and into the life of the world.
Let’s celebrate the year we’ve enjoyed together and this very special season of Advent.
Our gathering coincides with the first night of Advent O Antiphons, a favorite annual Advent prayer ritual hosted by the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids. This experience of prayer and song will prepare your heart and spirit as we enter deeper into this holy season.
Enjoy the first night with us at Dominican Center Marywood at Aquinas College. Arrive at 5:30 pm and enjoy a beverage as we visit and prepare our candles for a 6:00 pm start.
The word Advent forms part of the word adventure. Let us ponder Christ’s adventure among us in the demand for companionship, justice, peace, and an open invitation to see God’s vision of the largess of Love.
Today our adventure means learning again how to wait and watch — actively anticipating a day when the words of the prophet Isaiah will be fulfilled, “Let us walk in the light of the Lord.” (Isaiah 2:5)
For seven nights, Sisters and guests gather in a spirit of wisdom and wonder to listen to prophecies of the birth of Jesus. Addressing Jesus by various titles, each night includes short Scripture-based prayers from the Middle Ages, music, and wisdom sharing from a guest speaker
If you want to experience more nights of the O Antiphons, know that you are welcome to join us in-person at Marywood Chapel of the Word or view each night online beginning at 6:00 pm.
