The 50 plus years of Dominican Life have held an abundance of blessings and surprises that I never would have realized otherwise. I thank God.
B orn the first of three children, I was surrounded with a warm and loving family. Learning was highly valued at home and has been a continuing theme in my life.
After a year at Aquinas College with the Dominican Sisters, I entered the Congregation and was given the name, Marie Celeste. I received a Bachelors’ Degree at Aquinas, a Masters’
at Middlebury College and a Ph.D. at Emory University.
Teaching took me to Saginaw, Gaylord, Kentucky and Aquinas College in Grand Rapids where I worked as a faculty member, Program Director and Dean.
Upon retirement from Aquinas College, Sister Marie Celeste launched The Peace of Cake… Confections by Celeste.
She prepares and sells delicious home-made cakes, bars, biscotti and quick breads to support the mission of the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids. Sweet treats are available for sale at Dominican Center at Marywood. Special orders for holiday and other events can be placed by calling 616.575.5608 or 616.514.3325 between 8:00 am – 6:00 pm or email mcmiller@grdominicans.org.
