Cook (Part-Time)

The Dominican Sisters~Grand Rapids are seeking a part-time Cook. The position is primarily responsible for preparing meals for Sisters on the Marywood Campus using standardized recipes to prep and cook various fruits, vegetables, and proteins using various techniques. There will be an occasional need for baking desserts. All culinary positions are responsible for cleaning workstations as well as equipment and washing their dirty dishes at the end of shift.


  • Must have previous experience operating basic commercial food preparation equipment.
  • Preferably at least 3 years of experience in institutional cooking.
  • Formal culinary training is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of proper cooking temperatures, standard serve safe sanitation practices, and basic mathematics.
  • Must be able to function independently as well as with a team, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand up to 8 hours a day.

This position is regularly every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 hours per day with some holidays and weekends included.

Starting pay is $13.79 per hour with the potential of $16.23 after successful completion of training period (typically 60 days).
