Join the Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids in reflection during Lent as we recall hymns of praise that lift our hearts.
Ash Wednesday reminded us
that we are loved by a merciful God.
It reminded us to love our neighbors and all Creation.
The entire Lenten Season is the
story of the power of love
to change our hearts.
Christ’s life, death and resurrection give us Hope and Direction and Renewed Life.
Thank you to Sister Mary Ann Barrett for curating this selection of our favorite hymns.
Week 1: Sundays of Lent – February 18
COME, RAISE OUR VOICES IN SONG, SPREADING THE SPIRIT OF LOVE.
The glory of these forty days, we celebrate with songs of praise.
We rise again from ashes to create ourselves anew.
May the embers of our baptismal light – enkindle our daily conversions.
A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me.
You know where we most need your touch of grace: in our language, attitude, anger, stubbornness, trauma, envy, addiction, impatience, shame, resistance.
Psalm 25: Your ways, O God, are love and truth to those who keep your covenant.
Songs and composers: The Glory… – Gregory the Great; Parce Domine – The Grail
