Using Images in Spiritual Direction
a workshop for Practicing Spiritual Directors
Thursday, October 17, 2024
6:30 – 8:30pm EST
Cost: $45
Have you noticed how images can inform and deepen our experience of self, others and our connection to the Divine? When words fail, an image can bring understanding, offering another way of helping to process your experience.
In this contemplative time of Spiritual Directors learning together, you will be invited to consider what images resonate with you from Scripture along with what images accompany you on your spiritual journey. Then, we will consider together how images might be used to enrich, anchor and provide meaning as we hold space for others in spiritual direction.
This is a rich opportunity to gather with other Spiritual Directors to develop community with one another and consider how the use of images might be of value in your personal practices of self-supervision and Spiritual Direction ministries.
Facilitator
Sharon Leerar
Sharon’s ministry as a spiritual director is enlivened by her experience and expertise in her work as a teacher, restorative circle facilitator and cognitive coach. She enjoys hosting and facilitating spaces where learning is shared and participants embrace that all are beginners and have wisdom to share.
Sharon’s personal journey has been marked by significant challenges, including breast cancer and donating a kidney to her son. Those experiences helped her lean into the gift of embracing both the highs and lows of life with an appreciation of mystery and deepened awareness of God’s faithfulness.
Her spiritual direction training was in West Michigan at the Dominican Center. Further training for accompanying children and supervision was at the Companioning Center. You can find out more about her at directionwithsharon.com.
