Float Cook (Full-Time)

The Dominican Sisters~Grand Rapids are seeking a full-time Float Cook. Position responsibilities include preparing meals for Sisters and and our Conference Center around the various locations on the Marywood Campus. The position uses standardized recipes to prep and cook various fruits, vegetables and proteins using various techniques. There will be an occasion need for baking desserts. All culinary positions are responsible for cleaning work stations as well as equipment and washing their dirty dishes at the end of shift.


  • Must have previous experience operating basic commercial food preparation equipment
  • Must have at least 3-5 years of experience in¬†institutional cooking
  • Formal culinary training is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of proper cooking temperatures, standard serve safe sanitation practices and basic mathematics
  • Must be able to function independently as well as with a team, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn
  • Must be able to communicate, read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand up to 8 hours a day.

This position is 40 hours per week, every other weekend off. Weekly schedule consists of morning and evening shifts ending at 7:00pm ….no late night. This will also include some holidays.
