Cook (Part-Time) $17.90/hour

The Dominican Sisters~Grand Rapids are seeking a part-time Cook. The position is primarily responsible for preparing meals for Sisters on the Marywood Campus using standardized recipes to prep and cook fruits, vegetables, and proteins using various techniques. There will be an occasional need for baking desserts. All culinary positions are responsible for cleaning work stations as well as equipment and washing their dirty dishes at the end of shift.

Weekly schedule consists of a mix of morning and day shifts, nothing later than 7:00pm ….no late nights. This will also include some holidays. Benefits are available including dental and vision insurance, retirement plan with match and immediate vesting, paid time off, and more.


  • Must have previous experience operating basic commercial food preparation equipment.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in institutional cooking.
  • Formal culinary training is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of proper cooking temperatures, standard ServSafe sanitation practices, and basic mathematics.
  • Must be able to function independently as well as with a team, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn.
  • Must be able to communicate, read, comprehend and follow instructions in English.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand up to 8 hours a day.
  • Valid drivers license required to transport food between buildings.
