Aquinata Hall's Chapel Windows
Long before literacy was widely achieved, people learned their faith through storytelling and imagery. Among the most beautiful and lasting images are those found in stained glass windows throughout Christendom. In the stunningly brilliant stained glass windows of the Aquinata Hall Chapel, the viewer sees depicted the first ten verses of Chapter 5 of Matthew’s Gospel. Careful study of the symbols in the windows will reveal clues to the eight Beatitudes that Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount. Sister Blanche Steves, OP (1892-1969) designed the windows which were installed in 1967.
If you are interested in receiving a more detailed description of the windows, please contact Sr. Rose Marie Martin, OP, our archivist, at rmmartin@grdominicans.org
