Her Story: Sister Inspiration – Sr. Katrina Hartman

Katrina Hartman, OP, Honored with Dominican Spirit Award by Catholic Central High School

Sr. Katrina Hartman, OP, PhD was honored with the Dominican Spirit Award at Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 25, 2017. Sister Katrina is the embodiment of Dominican Spirit for her decades of service.

Sr. Katrina has dedicated her life to teaching science. She was a valued chemistry teacher at Catholic Central. She then started her career as a chemistry professor at Aquinas College, where she taught for 30 years. For more than 10 years, she mentored researchers and served as department chair.

Since retiring from Aquinas College, Sister Katrina has passionately served the San Juan Diego Academy by jump-starting and infusing new life into its science curriculum and learning lab. She aligned the schools needs with state and national standards to create a new way of learning and assessment at the school.
